New to Karate?
We warmly welcome first time students. Every single one of our experienced partitioners was once a complete beginner.
For your first session, no special equipment is required. Just turn up in comfortable clothing (a tracksuit or shorts and t-shirt will do). We'll provide a friendly introduction to how things work, and you'll be training alongside our regular members before you know it.
For your first few sessions, comfortable clothing is absolutely fine. If you decide to join, a karate gi (suit) is required. We can advise on where to purchase one — cost is typically £20–£35.
Our Little Ninjas class accepts children from age 4–5 upwards. The junior class starts from around age 8. We assess each child individually, as readiness varies.
Your first class is free. After that, membership is paid monthly. Please ask or attend a session for current pricing details.
Absolutely. Many of our adult members started with no martial arts background at all. The Mixed Open class is designed to accommodate all levels — beginners receive individual attention alongside more experienced students.
Students progress through coloured belts (kyu grades) from white belt towards black belt (dan grade). Gradings are held 3 monthly and are based on demonstrated ability in kata, techniques, and attitude. There is no rush — students grade when they are ready.
